K-CON — concentration risk own funds requirement
Scope gate
Does CRYPTOPRU 5 apply to the firm?
CRYPTOPRU 5 applies to a firm that enters into a trading book transaction involving a qualifying cryptoasset CRYPTOPRU 5.1.1R. It contains no calculation of its own: it applies MIFIDPRU 5.4–5.10 with modifications CRYPTOPRU 5.1.2G–5.1.4R. A firm with no such trading book is outside the chapter and K-CON is nil.
Firm inputs
Own funds and regime status
The soft limit, the tranche bands and both hard limits are all expressed against the firm's own funds — eligible own funds after deductions COREPRU 3.2.2R. Arrive from The Capital Number and the figure is filled in; otherwise use your COREPRU 3 workings. Inputs are kept in this browser only, until Reset; nothing typed here is sent anywhere.
Exposures
Counterparties and connected groups
One row per client or group of connected clients — the grouping is your judgement, not the tool's (see Method & gaps). Each row aggregates that group's three exposure legs: net long trading-book positions in qualifying cryptoassets issued by, or whose supply is controlled by, the client CRYPTOPRU 5.1.4R(2); amounts due under K-CCD transactions CRYPTOPRU 4.10.5R–4.10.6R; and (dual firms) the MIFIDPRU exposure value MIFIDPRU 5.4.1R.

Calculation
K-CON per group, and in total
Soft limit = 25% of own funds per group MIFIDPRU 5.5.1R(1) (eligible institutions: the higher of 25% and the lower of £150m / 100% of own funds 5.5.1R(2)). The requirement on the excess (EVE): OFRE × 200% while the excess has persisted 10 business days or fewer; beyond that, the EVE is apportioned across tranches of own funds and each portion carries its factor MIFIDPRU 5.7.4R as cross-applied by CRYPTOPRU 5.1.3R/5.1.4R.

Limits
The hard limits
While an excess has persisted for 10 business days or fewer, the group's EV must not exceed 500% of own funds MIFIDPRU 5.9.1R(1). The aggregate of all EVEs for excesses persisting more than 10 business days must not exceed 600% of own funds, connected or not MIFIDPRU 5.9.1R(2), 5.9.2R(2). The 10-day period runs from the start of the business day the excess occurred 5.9.2R(3).

Notifications
Exceeding the soft limit, and breaching a hard limit, each carry their own FCA notification using MIFIDPRU 5 Annex 1, submitted through the online notification system.
No exposures currently exceed the soft limit — no K-CON notification is due on these inputs.

Method notes and stated limits
  • Connected clients are your judgement. The tool takes each row as a settled client or connected group; it cannot derive connectedness. A group is aggregated and treated as a single undertaking CRYPTOPRU 5.1.3R(6).
  • "Issued by, or whose supply is controlled by, the client" is a factual determination the tool asks for, not one it makes — the same judgement that drives the COREPRU 3.3.39R connected-cryptoasset deduction.
  • OFRE is pro-rated. The own funds requirement for the exposure excess is computed as the group's exposure OFR × (EVE ÷ EV), mirroring the apportionment language of MIFIDPRU 5.7.4R(2). The group OFR sums 40% of net long positions CRYPTOPRU 4.9.18R, the K-CCD requirement (1.2 × EV × RF) CRYPTOPRU 4.10.6R, 4.10.11R and, for dual firms, the MIFIDPRU OFR you enter.
  • One aggregate K-CCD leg per group. Enter the group's amounts due and collateral in aggregate by asset type; a transaction-by-transaction schedule belongs in the Excel engine, not this page. A due asset that would be deductible in full takes its transaction out of K-CCD CRYPTOPRU 4.10.5R(2); the 100% adjustment applies to collateral only 4.10.5R(3).
  • The link to The Capital Number. Arriving from it fills in eligible own funds, the dual-firm answer and the scope gate, and pre-fills its aggregate K-CCD legs as one row to split; "Carry K-CON back" reopens it as you left it with this total in the K-factor requirement, together with the own funds it was computed on and the count of groups above the soft limit. The figures travel in the link itself; The Capital Number's state is not stored here.
  • Net positions are your netting output. Netting is permitted only across identical assets — identical rights, fungible with one another — and forwards count as spots CRYPTOPRU 4.9.8R, 4.9.15R–4.9.16G. Enter the netted figure.
  • Dual firms: the MIFIDPRU EV and OFR legs come from your MIFIDPRU calculation; this tool applies the single-limit mechanics CRYPTOPRU 5.1.2G but does not recompute K-NPR or K-TCD.
  • Citation basis: MIFIDPRU figures were verified unchanged against the May 2026 Handbook edition on 17 Aug 2026; page-anchored citations in the underlying register sit against the Release 18 export (VI-12-016). The trading-book scope reading carries the product owner's confirmation point at VI-12-007.
  • Not advice. An indicative calculator for firms preparing for the regime commencing 25 October 2027. The instruments govern.

Engine self-test
Acceptance tests run in this page on load: the FCA's own K-CCD worked example (£2.688 — CRYPTOPRU 4.10.13G) plus hand-verified soft-limit, tranche, eligible-institution and hard-limit cases. If any test fails, do not rely on the outputs.
